If you lack available space for your vehicle, boat, RV, or ATV, then you may need to rent parking space to store your vehicle. There are multiple different types of storage options for your vehicle.

Types of Vehicle Storage

Outdoor Uncovered Storage

An uncovered storage outdoors is usually in a paved area or on gravel lot within a facility enclosed behind a fence with gate access.  Although this is typically the cheapest parking storage option, your vehicle is exposed to the elements and susceptible to bad weather. Both our facilities, Lorain Mini Storage and Elyria Storage, offer outdoor uncovered parking for small to large vehicles, boats, and RVs.

Outdoor Covered Storage

Some facilities will offer covered storage using canopies, which offers some protection from rain, snow, wind, and hail damage.

Indoor Covered Storage

The best protection from theft and bad weather is provided by enclosed, covered storage indoors within a facility. We offer this storage option at Lorain Mini Storage.

Long-Term Storage

Sometimes, especially during the winter, you will need to store your vehicle or boat for long periods of time. We have some helpful tips to ensure that your vehicle stays in good condition while storing long-term within our facility.

  • Use a car cover to protect your vehicle from dust and outdoor elements.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent the battery from losing its charge.
  • Drain and winterize any water systems. Use eco-friendly anti-freeze and blow out water lines.
  • Use a sun shield if stored outdoor to protect the interior from sun fading.

Storage Requirements for Vehicles, Boats, Motorcycles, RVs, and ATVs
